Never like the idea of albums:
Radiohead Says No More Albums
Radiohead said in a magazine interview that it wouldn’t release any more full-length albums, instead focusing on downloadable singles like its recently released “Harry Patch (In Memory Of)” and shorter EPs.
“None of us want to go into that creative hoo-ha of a long-play record again. Not straight off,” said Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke, in an interview with the Believer. “I mean, it’s just become a real drag. It worked with ‘In Rainbows’ because we had a real fixed idea about where we were going. But we’ve all said that we can’t possibly dive into that again. It’ll kill us.”
Though Radiohead previously scoffed at the iTunes model of selling individual digital tracks and preferred to sell albums in their entirety, its new download-only mantra may be the way of the future. According to Nielsen SoundScan, sales of albums were down by 14% in 2008, but individual tracks broke a sales record, surging 27% to break 1 billion units sold.
I think the business model of selling music is going to be radically different in future with many singers having one-hit wonders. I imagine some day artists touring together like a compilation album.

This foldable bike is amazing. It folds into the size of it’s 26″ wheels.
Now it just needs, erm, some pedals.

Just when Apple is still dealing with the bad publicity gathered through the recent SMS exploit, the guys at DEFCON demonstrated how a keylogger can be planted into Apple keyboards via hacking the firmware. The full story here: http://www.semiaccurate.com/2009/07/31/apple-keyboard-firmware-hack-demonstrated/
This hack cannot be performed remotely.

I feel so mindf*cked after reading this:
Three gods A, B, and C are called, in some order, True, False, and Random. True always speaks truly, False always speaks falsely, but whether Random speaks truly or falsely is a completely random matter. Your task is to determine the identities of A, B, and C by asking three yes-no questions; each question must be put to exactly one god. The gods understand English, but will answer all questions in their own language, in which the words for yes and no are ‘da’ and ‘ja’, in some order. You do not know which word means which.

Alan Cox leaves Linux as TTY maintainer: http://www.itwire.com/content/view/26635/1231/
He got pissed off with Linus Travolds.
I’ve been working on fixing it. I have spent a huge amount of time
working on the tty stuff trying to gradually get it sane without breaking
anything and fixing security holes along the way as they came up. I spent
the past two evenings working on the tty regressions. However I’ve had enough. If you think that problem is easy to fix you fix
it.Have fun.
I’ve zapped the tty merge queue so anyone with patches for the tty layer
can send them to the new maintainer. -

This is an odd idea by MIT researchers, I don’t really understand it but here you go:
The Restaurant Game
Contribute to the first collaboratively authored computer game and earn Game Designer credit!
The Restaurant Game is a research project at the MIT Media Lab that will algorithmically combine the gameplay experiences of thousands of players to create a new game. In a few months, we will apply machine learning algorithms to data collected through the multiplayer Restaurant Game, and produce a new single-player game that we will enter into the 2008 Independent Games Festival. Everyone who plays The Restaurant Game will be credited as a Game Designer. It’s never been easier to earn Game Designer credentials!
All contributions are not equal, however. Designers will be ranked based on how well they play their assigned roles, and accomplish their objectives. There will be only one Lead Designer. Remaining credits will be divided into Game Designers and Assistant Game Designers, and within each category individuals will be ranked according to the quality of their performance(s). Quality will be determined computationally, based on a number of factors.
