Cafyn has moved to a better place, or so I think. I installed the server 3 times before I get it right. And now even when it seem right. The old host sometimes popped up instead of the new one. I don’t know what’s happening.

Should this blog be using Creative Commons license?
And is it legally compliant for a blog with quotes lifted from copyrighted materials to be CC-licensed?

I just svn updated Cafyn to WordPress 2.8. Hope everythings working fine.

My first few blog posts, in perhaps a year.
Thanks to kahwee for inviting me to this, and more thanks to the designer of this WP theme. The Twitter-like interface makes a non-writer like me less intimidated when writing a blog post and gets me writing more naturally, perhaps due to years of Twittering.

Cafyn on average gets 10 visitors a day. I’m pretty pleased about it.

Did you know some religion is against drinking of coffee?
Some Latter-day Saints (Mormons), Seventh-day Adventists, Church of God (Restoration) adherents, and Christian Scientists[103] do not consume caffeine. A few followers from these religions believe that God is opposed to the use of all non-medical psychoactive substances.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has said the following with regard to caffeinated beverages: “With reference to cola drinks, the Church has never officially taken a position on this matter, but the leaders of the Church have advised, and we do now specifically advise, against the use of any drink containing harmful habit-forming drugs under circumstances that would result in acquiring the habit. Any beverage that contains ingredients harmful to the body should be avoided.” (Priesthood Bulletin, Feb. 1972, p. 4.) See also Word of Wisdom.
Gaudiya Vaishnava Hindus generally also abstain from caffeine, as it is alleged to cloud the mind and over-stimulate the senses. To be initiated under a guru, one must have had no caffeine (along with alcohol, nicotine and other drugs) for at least a year.
And they refrain from Coke too.

Google Cache shows Cafyn, this blog, as a broken Python site: http://74.125.153.132/search?q=cache:O9xobIeG67gJ:cafyn.com/+cafyn&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=sg&client=firefox-a
It really used to be this way I guess. At least the broken Python site has a PageRank of 2.

I want to keep things short and simple, I just want to share the things I come across everyday. Blog is too long, Twitter is too short, Cafyn is just right.
I don’t like the limitations of 140 characters. And I like to paragraph.

I have no idea… Hmm, but how about putting all content to public domain, what do you think?
uzyn 5:03 pm on June 15, 2009 Permalink
Public domain meaning no rights reserved?
kahwee 5:57 pm on June 15, 2009 Permalink
Hmm… I guess I don’t really know how copyrights work. We could put all blog posts into some rights reserved (non-commercial, attribution) and all comments can go to public domain (no rights reserved). Blog posts that include citations, blockquotes etc should be fine, covered under fair use.

Then I guess we can just go under CC directly. :) Just choose the appropriate CC-licensed.
Personally, I would just go for the lowest CC license, attribution only. I don’t care much if people are selling my work.

Sure. I would be fine even if it’s no rights reserved, haha… I declared public domain for the chat thing if you noticed the copyright. ;)
